ADVA FSP 3000 Delivers Qualified and Cost-Effective Solution Supporting Migration to Higher Speeds Required by Mainframes Clusters
ADVA Optical Networking and P&TLuxembourg have announced the industry’s first commercial installation of a high-end parallel sysplex over InfiniBand service in Luxembourg. Deployed in a major financial institution’s network, the solution provides a fully-secured, Mainframe business continuity service. By leveraging the strengths of the ADVA FSP 3000, including the universal SAN-muxponder 5TCE, the customer has successfully migrated their Parallel Sysplex environment connecting two Mainframes from a 2Gbit/s FICON-based solution to a higher bandwidth, more sophisticated 5Gbit/s InfiniBand optical connectivity running over a protected, route-diverse physical fiber infrastructure.
“Our enterprise customers are at the cutting edge of network developments,” said Marc Schambourg, head of corporate and business customers at P&TLuxembourg. “With mission-critical data flowing over their networks every second of every day, they need the most robust networking solutions available. The ADVA FSP 3000 is critical to making this happen. When combined with our D-line managed connectivity service and ebrc Tier IV classified and Systrust-certified data centers, we have a combination that is tough to beat.”
The ADVA FSP 3000 features a robust solution for coupling Mainframes over distance by providing high-bandwidth and low-latency interconnect links that enhance the synchronization of the servers. The platforms 5TCE card dramatically reduces footprint and power consumption by supporting two 5Gbit/s InfiniBand links on the same card. This card can also be used for encrypting different types of services, including InfiniBand and 1-, 2-, 4-, 8- and 10Gbit/s Fibre Channel.
“Our partnership with ADVA Optical Networking has seen us build some of the most advanced enterprise networks in Europe,” commented Carlo Richartz, head of backbone deployment at P&TLuxembourg. “This is a company that understands how to work with customers. More than this though, it’s their attention to detail and focus on differentiating features that really sets them apart. You only need to look at their work on low-latency, reduced power consumption and security encryption to see this in action.”
“The enterprise community is always striving, pushing the boundaries of what can be done,” said Fabrice Jean, vice president of sales Western Europe and Nordics for ADVA Optical Networking. “This is what drives us. We have one of the biggest R&D teams within the industry and are continually developing our technology to ensure the networks we build provide end-to-end compatibility regardless of the protocols or standards used. P&TLuxembourg value this approach and together we continue to find new ways to delight enterprise customers and develop the solutions they need.”
