Brazilian Carrier Lays the Foundation for Ambitious Network Expansion
ADVA Optical Networking has announced today that Brazilian carrier, OptiTel, is using the ADVA FSP 3000 as the foundation for an ambitious network expansion. Initially focusing upon cities within southern Brazil, OptiTel is deploying the ADVA FSP 3000 to capitalize on continued bandwidth demand from its customers. A key competitive advantage for OptiTel is its 4000km of fiber connecting the provinces of Rio Grande Do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and São Paulo. The focus here is on corporate customers and the delivery of services to other carriers. OptiTel is using the inherent scalability of the ADVA FSP 3000 to gradually develop a full agile core network. This network will include 100G transport, ROADM technology and a GMPLS control plane. The network is being deployed by long-term partner Syncom Telecom Solutions.
“One of the most critical aspects about the development of our network is working with partners who we can trust, partners who will support us,” said Itacir Klitzke, president, OptiTel. “The team at ADVA Optical Networking understands this. They've built a business not just on technology, but on great service, on trust. It was clear after our first trip to their Meiningen campus to meet their CEO that this was a company that would support us every step of the way. And that's exactly what we're seeing. We're gradually expanding our network into new regions and scaling our services accordingly. The ADVA FSP 3000 will be key to our success here.”
One of the principal reasons for the selection of the ADVA FSP 3000 was its proven single-fiber working (SFW) capabilities. For service providers seeking to fully utilize their fiber resources, SFW is a valuable asset. Being able to transmit and receive data on the same fiber can prove vital, especially as fiber availability becomes an increasingly prevalent concern. OptiTel was able to see the ADVA FSP 3000's SFW capabilities during its visit to ADVA Optical Networking's Meiningen campus. During this visit, OptiTel extensively toured the facilities, meeting teams from such departments as Research and Development, Engineering and Systems Integration.
“OptiTel understands that we're a company that provides much more than just technology. We provide a partnership, a support system,” said Allan de Souza, director, Sales Latin America, ADVA Optical Networking. “We're at the first stages of helping OptiTel take the next steps of its evolution. As it expands into new territories, it needs scalable technology. Technology that will meet its customers' expectations and their data demands. The ADVA FSP 3000 does exactly this. It also fulfills OptiTel's exacting SFW requirements. Something others simply cannot do. We're intent on helping OptiTel to leverage our technology and our team to drive its success.”
