Dataram Corporation, a leading provider of server and workstation memory, announced a first-to-market 8GB DDR333/PC2700 memory upgrade for Hewlett-Packard's ProLiant DL585 server. Dataram's upgrade, a capacity not offered by HP, enables customers to double the maximum memory capacity of this speed from 48GB to 96GB in the DL585. Dataram's new 8GB upgrade, the DRH585/8GB, contains two DDR333/PC2700 Advanced ECC 4GB DIMMs. Memory for the DL585 is installed on one to four HP processor-memory boards, each containing 8 DIMM slots. DDR333 memory speed limits PC2700 DIMMs to 6 per processor board and with Dataram's exclusive 8GB memory upgrades, double the stated capacity of 96GB is achieved. Customers can increase memory capacity to 128GB by installing DIMMs in all 32 available slots, however the memory will run at DDR266 speed. The ProLiant DL585 features up to four AMD Opteron dual-core processors in a rack-optimized form factor. "Dual-core Opterons now deliver performance boosts of up to 65% and when coupled with Dataram's double capacity 8GB memory upgrades, you have the most powerful DL585's available, stated Paul Henke, Director of Product Marketing at Dataram. The additional speed and memory capacity is ideal for running Electronic Design Automation, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Oil and Gas Exploration, Transaction Processing and Decision Support applications."
