The Education Department announced it awarded Computer Sciences Corp. over $176 million management and support services contract for its Education network (EDNET) infrastructure. It was made on April 26, 2005 to CSC under solicitation ED-04-Q-0013, which was issued under Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Subpart 8.4 and with the General Services Administration's (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule 70 contract. This contract award is a hybrid Firm Fixed Price / Time and Materials Indefinite Delivery type contract that supports the requirements of the EDNet Management Support Services. There are three categories of work under the contract. Firm fixed prices for Category A are to be paid on a per unit basis (e.g. server, desktop, messaging account). Category B services shall be provisioned through task orders or work requests and can be on a firm fixed price or time and materials basis. Category C services, networking, security, clearinghouse capabilities and roster, shall be ordered on a time and materials basis. The contract has a duration of up to 10 years if Education exercises all options. SAIC was the incumbent contractor.
