ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that Shanghai Supercomputer Center (SSC), an organization serving as a catalyst for technology innovation, has selected ANSYS as its engineering simulation solution of choice. ANSYS China won the final bidding for the first phase of the software procurement project and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for additional opportunities. "ANSYS, Inc. is very pleased to be a part of such an important technology initiative for China," said Joe Fairbanks, vice president of global sales and support at ANSYS, Inc. "Through our very capable team in ANSYS China, SSC was able to determine, in a very competitive environment, that the combination of technology, expertise, support and vision, made ANSYS the best choice to help accomplish its very important objectives for the China market." SSC has supreme parallel computing capacity of 2400+ CPU, and runs CAE/CFD software to offer the state-of-the-art facilities to the public. SSC is set to be the pioneer and model for the other supercomputer centers to be established countrywide. Funded by the central and provincial governments, some supercomputing centers are under planning or development through 2008. "Throughout this process, we have come to respect ANSYS for its superior technology and high quality service offered by the ANSYS China staff," said Dr. Li, chief technical officer at SSC. "Additionally, we trust that ANSYS will work very closely with us to accomplish our goal of providing CAE software and services to the public."
