Company's 89th Patent Describes Self-Monitoring Capabilities That Allow IT Administrators to Reduce Manual Monitoring and Fine-Tune Performance
Dot Hill Systems has patented a method for improving the performance of AssuredSAN storage systems in real-world environments. The technology enables the storage system to monitor itself, and over time, provides valuable information and makes suggestions to the storage administrator to ensure optimal performance, with less manual monitoring and administration tasks.
"Dot Hill differentiates its AssuredSAN storage solutions with patented technologies that make storage smarter and faster in real-world situations," said Ken Day, chief technology officer, Dot Hill. "This latest innovation improves storage performance without human intervention. By continuously improving Dot Hill storage technology with autonomous features, we are able to deliver systems that are easier to maintain and troubleshoot in the field."
Dot Hill's 89th U.S. patent, numbered 8,312,454, describes technology that provides a system, device, and method for managing one or more data storage systems. Providing automated maintenance of a data storage system and gradual change of management policies, this innovation is capable of changing the configuration of the data storage system and maintaining a log of generated commands for later reference by a system administrator. In addition, this technology can manage the storage array and accomplish specific goals based on the system's dynamic nature or behavior.
Dot Hill's development efforts have resulted in numerous patent awards for its technologies. Dot Hill's intellectual property, demonstrated by its extensive patent portfolio, stands on three pillars of innovation which, when combined, provide a complete platform for addressing customers' storage needs. These pillars include software, platforms and systems, which combine to create advanced SAN storage.
