Information Builders, the enterprise business intelligence (BI) standard of choice for organizations around the world, today announced that the University of North Carolina, the oldest public university in America, has selected WebFOCUS as its enterprise standard for business intelligence and reporting. The University of North Carolina selected WebFOCUS based on the software's flexible architecture and ability to meet the increasing demands for large-scale user deployments. The University of North Carolina, under the auspices of the Shared Services Alliance, has formed several implementation teams based on functional area expertise. Each area is chartered with the creation of common business intelligence specifications that will be used across all of the participating institutions. "Information Builders is a great company to partner with in this endeavor," said Vijay Verma, associate vice president for Information Resources at the University of North Carolina. "When it comes to meeting the business intelligence requirements of UNC, Information Builders was the company with the most comprehensive solution." Information Builders' innovative licensing for higher education ensures that all users at every level of the organization can collaborate across the multiple university campuses and functional areas. Now each of UNC's campuses will have most of their reporting and business intelligence needs met with just one product instead of several. "WebFOCUS is critical to our environment since it integrates so well with SungardSCT's suite of products and security," explained Verma. "Pertinent information can be safely delivered to administration, faculty, and students when, where, and how they need it." "Many organizations are standardizing on a single business intelligence vendor that can meet the needs of the entire enterprise," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "The University of North Carolina is one of the most respected universities, and through the use of WebFOCUS, they are able to optimize their organization's performance." According to Verma, standardizing on WebFOCUS will dramatically improve UNC's reporting uniformity and enhance strategic decisions made throughout the campuses.
