Topspin Communications, the leader in switched computing, today announced the expansion of its VFrame Developers Program to include five new partners. The program, initiated last May, is intended to foster the delivery, documentation, and testing of integrated solutions for server virtualization. Many industry-leading software partners have already joined the program. Today's new members include Altiris, IBRIX, VERITAS, Virtual Iron, and XenSource. Topspin provides the industry's first programmable server switch, a new category of data center infrastructure designed to provide an intelligent backbone for grid, or utility computing. Topspin's innovative VFrame server virtualization software suite allows provisioning intelligence to be programmed into the server switch hardware by industry-leading management and provisioning tools using VFrame APIs and a software developer kit (SDK). "We are excited to add such a strong list of partners to this program," said Ben Eiref, director of business development at Topspin. "The greatest strength of VFrame is that it offers the first truly open solution for switch-based utility computing. We allow our customers to choose their preferred servers, storage, applications, and management tools and connect it all seamlessly through the server switch. With our VFrame development partners we can offer our customers a wide range of quality solutions." Altiris "The combination of Altiris server management solutions with Topspin physical virtualization will further extend our ability to support new data center and grid computing technologies," said Steve Morton, Altiris VP of product marketing and management. "Our participation in the VFrame partnership program demonstrates Altiris commitment and leadership in support of heterogeneous server environments, including virtualized infrastructures." IBRIX "We are pleased to be working closely with Topspin," said Sudhir Srinivasan, chief technology officer at IBRIX. "IBRIX provides commercial cluster computing environments with an enterprise-class, fully-integrated parallel file system solution that delivers significantly increased application performance. Combining the IBRIX Fusion Software Suite with Topspin's intelligent high-performance fabric results in many benefits to our customers, including reduced total cost of ownership, simplified management, faster data analysis, and increased application productivity." VERITAS "Customers are demanding best of breed products to help ensure the availability of information," said Mark Lohmeyer, senior director of Product Management, VERITAS Software. "VERITAS OpForceTM software is a leading server automation platform with lifecycle management capabilities that enables customers to build, manage and optimize server infrastructure. Combining the powerful management and provisioning capabilities of VERITAS OpForce software with the physical virtualization capabilities of Topspin's server switching infrastructure and VFrame software provides a truly compelling value proposition." Virtual Iron "Virtual Iron's VFe software leverages the Topspin server switching fabric in order to provide a comprehensive virtual computing environment where processing power can be dynamically partitioned across multiple servers," said Bob Guilbert, vice president, marketing and business development at Virtual Iron. "As a member of the VFrame developers program we have worked closely with Topspin to ensure that our integrated solutions function optimally together to enable the next generation fully virtualized data center." XenSource "With Xen and Topspin, we're bringing two critical virtualization technologies together," said Moshe Bar, CTO, XenSource. "Xen provides virtualization of the host server environment, allowing multiple operating systems to run on a single server at the same time. Topspin's programmable server switch and VFrame software assembles the underlying physical server infrastructure out of commodity components and adds to Xen's already excellent performance."
