Purdue to Develop Homeland Security Training Program at Muscatatuck

The U.S. Army and Purdue University will announce plans this afternoon for a $1.65 million research and development program at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center that will be part of a homeland security training initiative. The Purdue Homeland Security Institute, Indiana National Guard, Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana State Police and U.S. Army will work together to create the training program. Purdue will be responsible for the program which will utilize computational models and advanced technology in assisting military and first responders with decision-making during natural disasters or terror threats. Muscatatuck is a 1,000-acre, 70-building facility located about 60 miles southeast of Indianapolis in Jennings County.
