Foundry Networks, a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, announced it will detail strategies to enable simple and seamless transitions to IPv6 and management technologies for high-performance 10-Gigabit Ethernet networks, at the IPv6 Summit which occurs this week near Washington, D.C. The IPv6 summit is expected to be the largest and most comprehensive IPv6 summit ever held to-date. Where: Hyatt Regency Hotel, Reston, Virginia When: December 8, 2004 @ 2:55 p.m. Who: Gary Hemminger, Director of Edge Product Marketing for Foundry, will speak on "Managing the IPv6 Transition: Embedded sFlow." Mr. Hemminger has more than 15 years of experience in defining and delivering IPv4 and IPv6 networking solutions to customers, most recently as vice president of product management at IP Infusion. He is responsible for managing Foundry's fast-growing edge product portfolio, which includes some of the industry's first IPv6-equipped offerings. IPv6 -- the next generation Internet -- provides significant improvements over the current IPv4-based Internet in areas such as address scalability and portability, network security, multicast support and mobile IP architecture and performance. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Defense has mandated that all government networks transition to IPv6 by 2008. Foundry is a significant provider of network infrastructure technology to the federal government, with nearly 30% of its revenues in 3Q04 resulting from federal sales. Foundry first introduced IPv6 support in early 2003 on its NetIron 4802 Metro Ethernet router, and today delivers IPv6 solutions across its product line, to protect the investments of its customers and offer seamless solutions for transitioning networks to IPv6 while maintaining full IPv4 interoperability, and without compromising security or application performance. Foundry's offerings include the world's fastest IPv6 router, the NetIron 40G, which has been deployed at service provider sites around the world, and the award-winning FastIron Edge line of switches. Foundry's IPv6 solutions support a full suite of unicast and multicast services and protocols, as well as IPv6 transitioning technologies such as 6to4 tunneling and dual-stack operation to support the co-existence of the two protocols.
