Leading Asian telecommunications operator, SingTel, has implemented a global IP network backbone using Juniper Networks routing platforms. SingTel’s ConnectPlus IP backbone is comprised of Juniper Networks core and edge routing platforms offering advanced IP services including Ssecure Remote Access, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Voice over IP (VoIP), Multicast and the highest levels of Quality of Service (QoS). "The market is ready for a next-generation global IP network that can meet the current and emerging business data communication needs," said Chang Wai Leong, director, Global IP Development, SingTel. "We chose an infrastructure that is designed to provide the highest level of reliability and performance for our IP network and can support a full range of advanced IP services. The Juniper Networks solution is able to meet our extensive core and edge routing performance criteria." ConnectPlus was built with Juniper Networks T320, M20, and M10i platforms. These support the creation of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks, and utilise the fault-tolerant, modular JUNOS operating system to provide a rich set of reliable network features. The Juniper Networks T320 is a 10 Gigabit-per-second core routing platform with superior scalability and extensive ultra-dense aggregation support including ATM, Frame Relay, SONET/SDH and Metro Ethernet. The Juniper M20 and M10i edge routing platforms provide high-performance, ASIC-based network routing in a compact, fully-redundant chassis design. "SingTel’s ConnectPlus underlines a trend for regional service providers to invest in advanced IP infrastructure for the next generation of voice and data services," said Wendy Koh, sales director, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines for Juniper Networks. "We are excited about the future of telecommunications in Asia Pacific and this opportunity to enable SingTel to provide these revenue-generating services on a global scale."
