CALIENT Technologies has announced that it has signed a reseller agreement with ONPATH Technologies, the leading provider of scalable connectivity and monitoring solutions for high-performance networks. ONPATH will serve as the primary reseller of CALIENT’s flagship FiberConnect 320X adaptive photonic switch into test automation and cloud networking applications.
CALIENT’s FiberConnect 320X platform offers the industry’s highest density photonic switch with 640 fiber terminations or 320 ports (transmit and receive). The product has an installed base of 70,000 fiber terminations, is Telcordia proven and has been shipping to Tier 1 service provider and equipment vendors for the last eight years.
The FiberConnect 320X will augment ONPATH’s existing Universal Connectivity System, including its UCS 3900 and 2900 series and HorizON software. Through this reseller agreement, ONPATH will now be able to provide an expanded electrical and optical portfolio of solutions for high-performance networking applications. The key complementing features will be the high-speed, protocol independence and all-optical switching added to the UCS portfolio.
“Calient has a proven history for innovation and scalability in all-optical switching,” said Brian McCann, CEO at ONPATH Technologies. “We are pleased to offer customers new high-speed cross-connect capabilities for new application interfaces such as 16G Fibre Channel, 100G Ethernet, and wavelength division multiplexing.”
“ONPATH is a respected leader with a long history in this market,” said Gregory Koss, CALIENT CEO. “By utilizing ONPATH’s dedicated sales force for critical test automation and cloud networking applications, CALIENT is able to build its market share in this segment while freeing our sales team to focus on other strategic initiatives.”
In addition to the current reseller partnership, ONPATH is also considering being a part of CALIENT’s recently announced “CALIENT 3D MEMS Inside” company strategy, in which CALIENT will develop a next-generation switch module in a dramatically smaller form factor. ONPATH is evaluating this solution for the new 3900 series of physical layer switching systems.
