Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC) has begun an IT infrastructure overhaul to rival the best in enterprise class networks.
Designing and building this super-highway for data storage and management is Australian based Communications Design & Management Pty Limited (CDM), a Queensland leader in Juniper Networks and ICT Solutions. The project is at the forefront of Local Government network technology regarding security, performance and capacity.
With increasing pressure to provide on-demand information and services, data delivery mechanisms and speed of access are more important than ever. This kind of robust and scalable architecture requirement has primarily been the domain of large private sector enterprises like banks, insurance or telephone companies.
Now a new entrant to the enterprise market has arrived. Local Government MBRC, now the third largest in Australia since amalgamation in 2008, is leveraging its newfound size and increased responsibility to improve ICT services. By using the same Juniper networking solutions as other enterprise organisations, MBRC will be able to offer improved ICT service levels to the council employees and constituents.
MBRC's upgrade to the ICT network is part of the $13m budget commitment to improve services to staff and residents. The high performance network will provide better communications between 2000 users and supports MBRC's initiatives to streamline interactions between the council and local residents.
Improvements expected across all council processes
MBRC CEO John Rauber said council needed a high-performance network, centrally managed, with a single Operating System for seamless access for our users and support staff. "This project enables all our civic centres at various locations to manage data, communications and services from one central point, regardless of where they're located," he said."
"We researched and worked with the client thoroughly to understand their requirements and vision for network visibility through ease of management," comments Lambros Helios, Business Development Manager, CDM Queensland. "We began by planning to build a communications platform based on the latest network technology to support and accommodate their goals. This enabled us to create a reliable, secure and versatile network suitable for their needs now and well into the future."
CDM is creating high-performance data centre installations with the latest technical solutions in switching, routing and server connectivity from Juniper Networks. The network is now operational with CDM providing the project management, technical architecture and installation services.
CDM is a J-Partner Elite Enterprise Solution Provider, actively developing and maintaining their Juniper Networks Certified Internet qualifications in technical and sales resources, with Elite level technology specialisation in Advanced Security, Network Infrastructure and Implementation.
With growth rates expected of 4200 new dwellings built each year*, MBRC has taken proactive steps to deliver on the IT infrastructure demands to meet this regional growth. CDM is in the process of working with several other Queensland councils in assisting with their business communications vision being built using the latest technology innovations.
