Boston presents the world’s first patented total liquid submersion-cooled, rack-mounted server that allows for industry-leading thermal efficiency and performance at the International Supercomputing Conference 2011.
International Supercomputing Conference 2011 (ISC), Hamburg, Germany (22nd June, 2011). Boston Limited, now in its 18th year as a distribution partner for Super Micro Compute presented Hardcore Computer’s high-performance server solution featuring patented Liquid Blade total liquid submersion cooling technology. As the industry’s first and only server that employs Hardcore Computer’s patented total liquid submersion cooling technology to deliver relentless performance for the HPC arena. Please visit Stand 700 for a demonstration and more information.
The Liquid Blade technology solves many of the most complex and costly challenges plaguing the enterprise sector today - escalating utility costs, increasing operational and the numerous costs associated to maintaining sophisticated cooling and environmental thermal control systems.
By housing eight servers within a 5U enclosure, the Liquid Blade offers industry-leading performance by harnessing the power of Intel’s Xeon 5600/5500 generation processors. These servers provide up to 12 computational cores, 48 threads and memory configurations as large as 384Gb. Full support for hybrid GPU compute technologies have been integrated into the product design providing full support for NVIDIA Quadro and Tesla accelerators.
Industry-leading cooling efficiency is assured by employing Hardcore Computer’s dielectric (non-conductive) cooling liquid, CoreCoolant™. Core Coolant™ has a 1,350 times greater heat rejection capacity by volume than air, by volume; keeping components cooler and providing greater reliability and sustained optimal performance.
When application requirements demand high-speed connectivity and video processing power, the Liquid Blade can offer the most reliable connectivity options – including 1GB/s Ethernet, 10Gb/s Ethernet and 40Gb/s InfiniBand. Each type of connectivity is available as an embedded option, freeing up one PCI-E slot for a high-performance video card, GPU accelerator, additional I/O interconnectivity, flash storage or to support other application requirements.
Chad Attlesey, President, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Hardcore Computer, says “Hardcore Computer’s Liquid Blade total submersion technology is the future of high-performance computing and general datacenter cooling. It is an elegant, extremely energy efficient solution that allows for peak system performance. It surprises most people how cost-competitive our systems are.”
Manoj Nayee, Managing Director at Boston Limited said, “The Hardcore Liquid Blade technology offers relentless performance through liquid submersion; giving a user experience of unrivalled reliability for professionals in the HPC arena demanding maximum power, speed and stability. As innovators of technology ourselves, Boston is delighted to be associated with the groundbreaking Liquid Blade technology!”
