tachIOn Solid State Disk Solution Now Available to Appro's Performance Demanding Customers
Virident Systems has announced the signing of a reseller agreement with Appro for the tachIOn drive. The joint solution is targeted for Appro’s High Performance Computing (HPC) and Supercomputing customers. This new server-side storage platform enables Appro customers to provide high, predictable performance for data and I/O intensive applications at lower cost and with enterprise class reliability.
The widening performance gap between multi-core servers and storage hinders application scalability and lowers efficiency, slowing down HPC-based initiatives. Flash-based SSDs have emerged as a preferred path to address this problem. Until now, such SSDs have lacked consistently high or predictable performance and suffered from inconsistent reliability, which forces customers to replace their SSDs frequently. The tachIOn drive delivers high predictable performance as well as high reliability.
“This reseller agreement with Appro acknowledges Virident as the foremost provider of high-performance PCI-based solid-state storage to the high-performance computing market," said Kumar Ganapathy, CEO and co-founder of Virident. "The performance, flexibility, scalability and reliability of the Virident tachIOn SSD were designed to meet the compute and data-intensive I/O demands of customers that depend on Appro’s supercomputing solutions."
"As the leading supplier of hardware and software solutions for the High Performance Computing Market, we are very familiar with the I/O bottleneck and the need for solutions that address concurrent, multi-core processor demands while providing maximum storage throughput," said Anthony Kenisky, VP of Sales for Appro. "We are very impressed with the potential of the Virident tachIOn SSD solution to deliver leading, predictable, high-performance IOPS for data intensive workloads. In addition, the expandable capacity and ease of integration into existing environments makes this a very attractive solution for our customers. We are pleased to be working with Virident as a certified solutions partner."
