Dr. David Riddoch, chief software architect from Solarflare Communications, the company pioneering 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE), will demonstrate the company's thought leadership in creating 10GbE solutions, and showcase its latest products at three upcoming industry events: The STAC Performance Summit in New York, NY, October 14; The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) International Exposition in Denver, CO, October 17-22; and The Futures Industry Association (FIA) Futures & Options Expo in Chicago, IL, November 2-4.
The STAC Performance Summit brings together leaders building and using the latest high-performance solutions for trading. The event will focus on co-location and connectivity strategies, and compute strategies. An industry veteran, Riddoch will provide insight on the evolving high-frequency trading space and share his experience in developing Solarflare's high-performance, low-latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet solutions. The presentation will discuss new features that enhance the performance of Solarflare's OpenOnload application acceleration middleware, offering reduced latency of less than four microseconds and increased message rates. Riddoch will outline the enhancements to 802.1Q VLAN trunking and 802.1ad link aggregation functionality that enable OpenOnload to support more complex Layer 2 topologies required by designers of market data and high-frequency trading applications. The educational session will also detail the new EnterpriseOnload release, which offers bundled service and support, such as 24/7 service level agreements. This level of support is critical to the equities trading applications of the large exchanges and banks. The speaking session, "New Features for Application Acceleration and Enhanced Performance in Solarflare's OpenOnload(R)," will be held at the event's host venue, Deutsche Bank, at 3:00pm.
Solarflare will also be at booth #2278 at SEG, demonstrating its latest 10GbE server adapters for the world's largest oil, energy and mineral exposition audience. The company's 10GbE network adapters enable companies in a wide range of industries, such as scientific computing, energy, oil and gas, and manufacturing, to build high performance computing (HPC) clusters and data centers that meet the most demanding computing and networking challenges. Solarflare will be presenting the business case for upgrading HPC networks from Gigabit to 10 Gigabit networking, showcasing the companies SFP+ and 10GBASE-T 10GbE server adapters, and sharing network file system (NFS) performance results from recent benchmarking of the company's 10GbE adapters. NFS is an important open, standards-based networked storage protocol used by many HPC customers because of its ease of use and broad compatibility.
At FIA, the industry's leading event on risk management products, trading tools and other relevant technology products for the financial services community, Solarflare will be in a booth with its technology partner Arista Networks. The company will discuss the latest improvements in low-latency networking, including the enhancements to its EnterpriseOnload application acceleration middleware. In a recent testing with Arista Networks, Solarflare's 10GbE server adapter achieved sub four microseconds TCP/UDP application latency, while supporting the transmission of millions of messages per second.
Solarflare has shipped its 10GbE adapters to over 100 customers and 150 locations in China, Europe, US, India, Hong Kong and Singapore. The SFN5122F dual port SFP+ 10GbE server adapter with OpenOnload application acceleration middleware, is installed in every major equities exchange worldwide.
