GammaTech Computer has introduced two new members to its line of cost-effective, high-performance Semi-rugged Durabook notebook computers. They are the U12C that quickly and easily transforms into a Tablet PC, and the S15C, which features a brilliant 15.6” display with high-definition resolution.
Both products are available to federal, state, and local government agencies and departments via GammaTech’s GSA contract. These and other GammaTech products can also be found on the NASA (SEWPS), NIH (ECS III), FIRST SOURCE, and NETCENTS contracts. The GammaTech Durabook was named a Government Security New’s 2010 Homeland Security Award winner in the Best Rugged Computers category. Additionally, these products are available through authorized resellers.
“With tighter and tighter budgets, an ever-increasing workload, and a decreasing number of workers, government departments and agencies at every level are facing some very tough decisions,” commented Jen Chen, GammaTech president. “These new Semi-rugged notebooks make perfect sense. They have the power to run all of today’s office applications as well as browse the internet with high-speed wireless technology. Yet, they are competitively priced compared to commercial notebooks and cost as low as 50 percent less than fully rugged notebook systems.”
The U12C is powered by Intel i5-540UM processor and Intel HM55 chipset. It has up to 8GB of memory capacity. Features include a 12.1” convertible TFT, LED backlit touch-screen display, high-definition stereo audio, 1.3-mega-pixel Web camera, and WLAN and Wi-Fi compatibility with optional Bluetooth capability. A built-in handle makes moving the unit from location to location hassle free. All input/output ports are fully dust resistant.
The S15C is powered by both Intel i7 and i5 processors and the Intel HM55 chipset. Its two dual-channel DDR III SODIMM slots provide up to 8GB of memory. An internal optical drive slot accommodates either a DVD super-multi drive or Blu-Ray Disk combo drive. Additional features include an Intel integrated graphics controller, Intel compliant high-definition stereo audio, and a built-in microphone.
The units are drop and shock resistant and tested to stringent MIL-STD-810G requirements. A unique spill-resistant design protects them from accidental spills. A spill-resistant C-face includes the area around the keyboard, touchpad, speakers, wireless and power switches.
