PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe, is arranging a scientific workshop in Lyon on November 26, to be held in parallel with ICT 2008. The themes of the scientific workshop are applications, architectures and training needs for petascale computing. Participants will receive first-hand information outlining the current status of the PRACE project, including its progress with hardware infrastructure, software applications and training. The workshop will include a networking session at ICT 2008 and an evening session and dinner on the 26th November at Hotel Cite de la Concorde, just a stone’s throw from the Lyon Congress Centre starting at 18:45. This is a unique opportunity for additional information sharing and discussions. Further details concerning the ICT 2008 PRACE networking session will be made available over the coming days. The session named “Scientific Computing in the Petascale Regime: a European HPC Infrastructure” is open to all attendees of the ICT conference. Both the networking session and the PRACE workshop are designed for European scientists who are likely to benefit from the use of a Europe-wide supercomputing infrastructure. Participation in the first PRACE scientific workshop and dinner is free of charge, however registration is required at its Web site. The preliminary programme and more information about the workshop can be found on the workshop's website.
