With over 30 HPC units designed-installed-managed across different Industries, Locuz is the leading provider of services and solutions in the HPC and related Storage Infrastructure space in India. Among the implementations are clusters that are as big as 2TF over parallel file access to 30TB of Storage; and the Industries include Life Sciences, VLSI, Computational Chemistry, Material Science, Animation and Rich Media (Render farm), Defense etc. One of the recent projects was awarded by NCBS (National Centre for Biological Sciences), Bangalore a GoI Institute for setting up and managing cluster of 1.3TF build on Sun Servers with AMD processors and Infiniband interconnect to run applications that include GENESIS, MOOSE, and few other Bio apps. Locuz ensured a well optimized parallel environment was built and for this GEN2 and MPICH2 stack was used. "We are happy that Locuz has been able to deliver a solution to our rather demanding specifications, and is now maintaining the cluster as per an SLA" said Dr. Upendra Bhalla, Group Leader - Computational Neuroscience Lab. Like these Locuz has been entrusted the responsibility of managing critical HPC environments. Locuz has leveraged its Remote Managed Operations team that adopted standards in IT Infra Management using framewoks like FCAPS, ITIL and ISMS - by building tools and processes that are key to managing HPC infrastructure. Like these Locuz has been entrusted the responsibility of managing critical HPC environments. Locuz has leveraged its Remote Managed Operations team that adopted standards in IT Infrastructure Management using framewoks like FCAPS, ITIL and ISMS - by building tools and processes that are key to managing HPC infrastructure. Locuz NOC/SOC (also called LITOC - Locuz IT Operations Centre) now has a team, custom tools and processes to support HPC customers. Customers are seeking advantage of 24X7 monitoring which has been one of their critical requirements as jobs could run for days-to-weeks before they delivered suitable results; and could not build resources with reasonable technical knowledge to maintain such infrastructure. The custom created dash board can not only indicate the temperature and power in the HPC Datacentre running 10’s to 100’s of servers with large volumes of Storage with Portals and GRID but also monitors the status of the job and status of distribution.
