Cognos Names Rob Rose Chief Strategy Officer

Cognos, the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management (CPM), today announced that Rob Rose has been promoted to the position of Chief Strategy Officer. In this new role, Mr. Rose will have direct responsibility for the development and implementation of the Cognos global corporate strategy, and will serve as chief architect of the company's strategic investing activities. As a member of the company's Executive Committee, he will also participate in the top- level operating decisions driving the company's success. Rob Rose was one of the founding members of the business intelligence division of Cognos and a principal architect of the company's corporate performance management vision and business strategy. He has been involved with technology companies for over 20 years. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Rose held several senior positions with Cognos, including vice president, corporate strategy and business development and vice president, product marketing. Earlier, Mr. Rose served as an independent technology and marketing consultant with several leading software firms and was an associate with the international consulting firm of Deboever & Associates. "Rob is one of the true thought-leaders in our industry, and has been at the center of some of the most important strategic initiatives in our company's history, including our rise in the business intelligence market and our move into CPM," said Rob Ashe, Cognos president and chief operating officer.
