Wolfram Research Offers Support for Microsoft
Wolfram Research today announced the free availability of its new Cluster Integration Package, which enables affordable, out-of-the-box operation of gridMathematica on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003. The Cluster Integration Package for gridMathematica makes it possible for Microsoft Windows users to immediately take advantage of the robust environment for high-performance computing (HPC) provided by Microsoft's new HPC operating system. "This is a big advantage for our Microsoft Windows customers and system administrators, particularly those who are unfamiliar with Unix, Linux, or cluster management," said Roger Germundsson, director of research and development at Wolfram Research. "It reduces the set-up cost, time, and effort required to establish a cluster to a level that is very reasonable and attractive to more mainstream customers. We have users that have been waiting for this kind of development and we've been working with Microsoft for some time now to ensure an optimal experience running gridMathematica on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003."
Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 is Microsoft's official entry into the HPC market. It is an integrated, standards-based cluster computing platform built on top of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 editions, empowering customers to harness distributed computing resources to solve complex problems.
The Cluster Integration Package provides a direct interface to cluster management systems from within gridMathematica, Wolfram's premier software environment for technical computing. It enables the administration of the gridMathematica compute kernels from within Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 with only a one-line start command.
"Microsoft is pleased to work with Wolfram Research to deliver a quality computing experience to our shared customers," said John Borozan, group product manager in the Windows Server Division at Microsoft Corporation. "gridMathematica is an essential application for high-performance computing, and with Wolfram's Cluster Integration Package for Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 we are pleased to know that our customers will have a zero-configuration, seamless solution that meets their needs."
gridMathematica users can download the Cluster Integration Package for free from its Web site.
