Goethe University selects Mellanox for supercomputer

Mellanox has announced that Goethe University in Frankfurt has chosen its InfiniBand connectivity products, to provide the high-performance server and storage networking for its Hessian high-performance supercomputer. With a theoretical peak performance of 599 TeraFLOPs, the InfiniBand-accelerated LOEWE-CSC will provide university scientists faster calculation and simulation results for a wide array of research, ranging from theoretical physics and chemistry to life sciences and computer science.

Goethe University chair of HPC architecture, Prof. Volker Lindenstruth said, "The combination of ultra-dense servers, Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand networking and GPU/CPU hybrid computing opens up a new world of possibilities to accelerate the Goethe-University's scientific research at an astounding price/performance, space and energy consumption. The new LOEWE-CSC supercomputer, leveraging Mellanox's application and GPU offloading technology, will help our scientists enhance and accelerate their wide range of scientific research."

Mellanox share price was down 2.54% in morning trading on Nasdaq at $15.70, giving a market cap of $526.83 million. On the TASE today the share price was down 0.28% to NIS 60.58.
